Thomas the Apostle

Imagine having a best friend named Thomas! That's who this story is about. Thomas was one of Jesus's very special helpers, called apostles. His name, Thomas, means 'twin' because he might have had a twin brother or sister! He was also called Didymus, which is another word for twin. Thomas was known for being a bit of a doubter at first, but he became a super important follower of Jesus.

After Jesus's special time on Earth, Thomas went on an amazing journey! He traveled way, way out of his home country, even farther than you can imagine, to places like India. He wanted to tell everyone about Jesus and his teachings. He sailed across the seas and walked many miles, sharing his beliefs with people in new lands. It was like going on the biggest adventure ever!

Thomas was so brave! He traveled to India around the year 52 AD, which is a super long time ago, even before your grandparents' grandparents were born! He helped start churches there, which were special places for people to learn and pray. Some people believe he was the first person to bring Christianity to India. That's a really big deal!

Today, many Christians in India remember Thomas and celebrate his special day on July 3rd. It's called Indian Christians' Day! It shows how much he is loved and remembered for his bravery and for sharing his faith so far away. His name is still very popular among people in India and other places he visited.
