Dewey helped send him to jail for a very long time. He also made sure people paid their taxes, even sneaky ones who tried to hide their money.

Thomas E. Dewey was so popular that he ran for president two times! Once, he ran against President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was like a superhero president during tough times. The second time, he ran against President Harry S. Truman. It was a super close race, and everyone thought Dewey would win, but Truman surprised everyone!

Before trying to be president, Dewey was the governor of New York. That means he was in charge of the whole state! He helped make important decisions for millions of people. He was a leader who wanted to make things better and was known for being very organized and fair.
