Who Was This Awesome Thinker?

Imagine a super-smart person living thousands of years ago in a place called Miletus, which is now in Turkey. That was Thales! He wasn't a king or a warrior, but he was famous for being incredibly clever. He loved to look at the stars, measure shadows, and think about how everything in the world worked. People back then thought he was one of the wisest people ever!

Adventures in Thinking!

Thales lived a super long time ago, around 600 years before Jesus was born. He traveled and learned a lot. He even visited Egypt, where he saw the giant pyramids! He used his smarts to figure out how tall they were without climbing them. He also looked at the stars and could predict when an eclipse would happen, which amazed everyone. He was like a detective for the universe!

Why Thales is Still Cool Today!

Thales was one of the very first people to try and explain the world using ideas and thinking, not just magic or stories about gods. He believed everything was made of water! Even though we know now that's not quite right, it was a HUGE step because he was trying to find a natural reason for things.

This way of thinking helped start science and philosophy, which are super important for learning about everything around us.

Thales's Amazing Ideas

One of Thales's coolest ideas was that everything comes from water. He thought water was the most important thing. He also used geometry, which is about shapes and measuring. He figured out how to measure the height of pyramids by looking at their shadows! He was also one of the first people to think about whether the Earth was round or flat. He was a true pioneer of thinking!
