The Bridge That Watched Over a River!

This bridge, called South Dakota Department of Transportation Bridge No. 63-210-282, was like a special helper for cars and trucks! It stood over the East Fork Vermillion River in a place called Turner County, South Dakota. It was built way back in 1909, which is older than your grandparents' grandparents!

It was a strong bridge that helped people get from one side of the river to the other for many years.

This bridge had a really cool design when it was first built. It was made by a company called the Iowa Bridge Company. But guess what? Bridges get old, just like people! So, in 2009 and 2010, a big change happened. The old part of the bridge that helped it cross the river was replaced with a new, strong steel part. It was like giving the bridge a brand new set of legs to stand on!

It was so special that people wanted to remember it, and it was even put on a special list called the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. That means it was considered important enough to be saved in history books!
