The Somali Language

For a long time, people spoke Somali but didn't write it down with its own letters. Then, about 60 years ago, they decided to create a special alphabet just for Somali! Did you know Somali has its own alphabet? It's called the Somali alphabet, and it was created not too long ago, in 1972! Before that, people wrote Somali using other alphabets. This new alphabet made it easier for everyone to read and write Somali. It has 28 letters, and each one makes a special sound, just like in your alphabet.
