Shridhar Chillal

Shridhar Chillal was a man from India who decided to stop cutting his fingernails in 1952. He kept growing them and growing them! His nails became so long that they set a world record. Imagine nails that are longer than a grown-up is tall! His longest nail, his thumbnail, was almost as long as a grown-up! It's like having a super-long rope attached to your finger!

Shridhar Chillal didn't just grow his nails because he forgot to cut them. He was very proud of them! He thought they were special. He even showed them off in movies and on TV shows. People were amazed by how long they were. It was like a superpower, but it also made his hand very heavy and hard to use.

Growing nails that long wasn't easy. The weight of Shridhar's fingernails was so heavy that it made his fingers hurt and his hand couldn't move very well. It was like carrying a big bag of toys all the time! The super-long nails even made it hard for him to hear out of one ear because of the pressure on his arm.

After many, many years, Shridhar Chillal decided it was time for his amazing nails to be cut. He used a special tool to cut them off. Now, his incredible fingernails are on display at a museum called Ripley's Believe It or Not! So, even though they are cut, people can still see how long they were and remember Shridhar's amazing record.
