Who is Scott Kelly?

Imagine a super-adventurer who gets to fly way, way up into space! That's Scott Kelly! He's an engineer and a pilot who has been on four amazing trips to space. He even got to be the boss, or commander, of the International Space Station, which is like a giant science lab floating above our planet. He's a real-life space hero!

His Awesome Space Journeys!

Scott's first trip was on a Space Shuttle called Discovery. It was like a quick visit to fix a giant telescope called Hubble. Then, he went back on another shuttle for a longer trip to the space station.

But his most incredible adventure was staying in space for a whole year! That's longer than you've been in school for one grade! He lived with other astronauts, doing important science experiments.

A Year in Space: WOW!

Spending a whole year in space is super special. Scott and another astronaut, Mikhail, were chosen for this long mission. They blasted off in a rocket and lived on the International Space Station for 365 days! That's a lot of time floating around, looking at Earth from above. It's like living on a playground that's always moving!

A Twin Astronaut Family!

Here's a super cool fact: Scott has an identical twin brother named Mark, and guess what? Mark is also a retired astronaut! It's like having two superheroes in the same family. While Scott was exploring space, Mark was also a pilot and later became a senator. They are both amazing people who have done incredible things for our country.
