Imagine a super-brave pilot named Scott Carpenter! He was one of the first Americans to zoom into space. He flew in a rocket ship called Aurora 7, which was like a tiny metal house in the sky. He even circled our whole planet Earth, which is a super long trip! He was the second American to do this amazing feat, following in the footsteps of another brave astronaut.
From Sky to Sea Adventures!
After his amazing space trips, Scott Carpenter had another big adventure. He decided to explore the deep, deep ocean! He lived underwater for 28 days in a special house on the ocean floor. This was part of a project called SEALAB II. It was like being an underwater astronaut, learning about the mysterious world beneath the waves.
WOW! He Flew and Swam!
Scott Carpenter is famous for doing two incredible things: flying in space AND living underwater! He was one of NASA's first astronauts, part of a special group called the Mercury Seven. He orbited the Earth, seeing our planet from way up high. Then, he became an aquanaut, which means he lived and worked underwater. How cool is that!

Scott Carpenter had many cool jobs. He was a pilot in the Navy, flying planes to keep our country safe. Then, he became an astronaut, traveling to space. After that, he explored the ocean as an aquanaut. He even helped make movies about space and the ocean, and wrote exciting books about his adventures. He was a true explorer of both the sky and the sea!
