Meet the Kingdom of Pasai!

Long, long ago, from about 700 to 500 years ago, there was a special kingdom in a place called Sumatra. It was called Samudera Pasai. Think of it like a super cool club that lots of people wanted to be a part of because it was so successful! This kingdom was a big deal for people traveling and trading things like spices.

The First Big Boss!

The very first leader, or Sultan, of Pasai was named Merah Silu. He was a smart leader who decided to become a Muslim. After that, he changed his name to Malik ul Salih. This happened way back in the year 1267. That's even older than your grandparents' grandparents! He started this kingdom and made it strong.

Why Pasai Was So Cool!

Pasai was like a busy airport for ships! Lots of traders from different places would stop there to buy and sell amazing things, especially spices that made food taste super yummy. Being in a good spot made Pasai very rich and famous. It was a place where people from everywhere met.

When the Kingdom Ended

Sadly, like all good stories, this kingdom didn't last forever. About 500 years ago, some visitors from a faraway place called Portugal came and took over. Later, another kingdom called Aceh took over Pasai. Even though the kingdom is gone, we can still learn about its amazing past!
