Love is Love: Marriage for Everyone!

Marriage is a special promise two people make to love and take care of each other, forever! It's like a super-strong friendship. Sometimes, people think marriage can only be between a boy and a girl. But guess what? In many places now, two boys or two girls who love each other can also get married and make that special promise!

People have been getting married for thousands of years! Even way back, like when the pyramids were being built, there are stories of two men getting married. But it wasn't until more recently, like in 1971, that a same-sex couple got a marriage license. Then, in 2001, a country called the Netherlands said it was okay for everyone to marry who they love!

When people get married, they get special protections and can help each other in important ways, like at the hospital or when sharing things. For couples who love the same gender, getting married means they are treated the same as other married couples. It shows that everyone's love is important and deserves to be celebrated and protected by the rules.

Today, lots of countries around the world say that same-sex couples can get married. That's more than 38 countries! Imagine a big party with people from all over the world celebrating love. The newest place to say 'yes' to this is Thailand. It means millions and millions of people can now get married to the person they love, no matter if they are the same gender.
