Rodents: The Nibblers of the World!

Rodents are a super-duper big group of animals, and they are everywhere! Think of a squirrel in the park or a mouse in a storybook – those are rodents! What makes them special?

They have two very important teeth, called incisors, right at the front of their mouths. These teeth are like tiny chisels that never stop growing, so rodents have to chew and gnaw all the time to keep them from getting too long. It’s like they have built-in nail clippers for their teeth!

Rodents are like the ultimate travelers of the animal kingdom! You can find them living on almost every continent, from the icy lands of the Arctic to the warm, sunny deserts. They love to make their homes in all sorts of places.

Some dig cozy burrows underground, like little underground apartments. Others scamper up trees, building nests high above the ground. You might even find them swimming in rivers or living in your backyard!

They are super adaptable and can live almost anywhere there's food and shelter.

Rodents are mostly plant-eaters, which means they are herbivores. Their favorite snacks include seeds, nuts, fruits, and tasty grasses. But some rodents are a bit more adventurous and will also munch on insects or even small fish, making them omnivores.

Their strong teeth are perfect for cracking open tough nuts and seeds. Imagine trying to open a walnut with just your teeth – that’s what rodents do every day! They are always busy finding their next delicious meal.
