Robert Todd Lincoln

Imagine being the son of the most famous president, Abraham Lincoln! That was Robert Todd Lincoln. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1843. He was the oldest of four brothers, but sadly, he was the only one who grew up to be an adult. Robert lived a very long life, much longer than his famous dad. He became a lawyer and even a big boss in a company. He saw amazing things happen in America!

Robert was born in a town called Springfield, Illinois. When he grew up, he went to a fancy school called Harvard College. During a big war called the Civil War, he was a brave soldier on General Ulysses S.

Grant's team. After the war, he got married and had his own children. He studied hard to become a lawyer and was very good at it.

He even helped build big companies and became a president of one!

Guess what? Robert Todd Lincoln was at some super important events. He was even at the big party to open the Lincoln Memorial, a giant statue of his dad! He was also a leader in the government, like a minister to Great Britain, which is like being an ambassador. He was a very important person who helped run the country and was part of many historical moments. He lived to be 82 years old!

Robert Todd Lincoln was special because he was the only child of Abraham Lincoln to live past 18 and to outlive both his parents. This means he carried on his family's name and legacy. He had a successful career as a lawyer and businessman, and he served his country in important government jobs.
