Raja Ampat Islands

Raja Ampat means 'Four Kings' in Indonesian! It's a super cool group of over 1,500 islands, like tiny dots scattered in the ocean. The biggest islands are named Misool, Salawati, Batanta, and Waigeo. They are so far away, they are near the northwest tip of a giant island called New Guinea. It's like a secret treasure chest of islands waiting to be explored!

These islands are special because they are in a place called the Coral Triangle. This is like the busiest, most amazing underwater city on Earth! There are more kinds of fish and sea creatures here than anywhere else. You can find tiny seahorses that look like they are wearing armor, and sometimes even giant whale sharks that are bigger than a school bus!

Even though there are so many islands, not many people live there. About 64,000 people call Raja Ampat home. They live in small villages and enjoy the beautiful nature all around them. The islands are warm and sunny most of the time, perfect for growing yummy tropical fruits and for all the sea creatures to play!

Many people in Raja Ampat work with the sea. They might be fishermen, catching fish to eat or sell. Others help visitors who come to see the amazing underwater world. It's a place where people live closely with nature, taking care of the beautiful islands and the ocean.
