He was inspired by Charlie Chaplin and often played a character like a lovable, clumsy person called 'The Tramp'. In his movies like 'Awaara' and 'Shree 420', he showed how even someone with nothing could have a big heart.

His acting in 'Awaara' was so good, a famous magazine called 'Time' said it was one of the best performances ever in the whole world!

Raj Kapoor was like a champion in the movie world! He won so many awards for his acting and directing. He won 3 National Film Awards and a whopping 11 Filmfare Awards, which are like gold stars for movies in India.
