Where Did the Big Ask Happen?

The Quit India Movement was a HUGE event that happened in India, a big country in Asia. Think of it like a giant playground where millions of people decided they wanted to play by their own rules. It all started in a city called Bombay, which is now known as Mumbai.

This movement was all about asking the British, who were in charge of India at the time, to leave the country. It was a time when India was fighting for its freedom, like a kid wanting to choose their own games.

Gandhi's Big Idea!

A very important leader named Mahatma Gandhi had a super idea. He told everyone in India, 'It's time for the British to quit India!' He said this in 1942, during a big world fight called World War II. Gandhi wanted India to be free and make its own choices.

He told people to do their best, like trying really hard in a game, saying 'Do or Die!' This speech made lots of people excited to join the movement.

What Did People Do?

People all over India joined in! They stopped buying things from British shops and didn't want to work for the British government anymore. It was like a giant, peaceful strike!

But sometimes, things got a little rowdy, and there were some fights. The British government got worried and put many leaders, including Gandhi, in jail. It was like the grown-ups saying, 'No more playing!' but the kids kept wanting to be free.

Freedom's Big Step!

Even though many leaders were in jail, the idea of freedom kept growing. The British government realized it was getting harder and harder to control India. After a few years, they finally understood that India needed to be independent.

In 1945, all the leaders were let out of jail. This movement was a super important step that helped India become a free country, where people could make their own decisions.
