Alaska's Big Blue Backyard!

Prince William Sound is a super cool place in Alaska, way up north! It's like a giant bathtub filled with salty ocean water, but way bigger. It's surrounded by tall mountains that are sometimes covered in snow, even in the summer!

There are tons of islands scattered all over the water, like little green dots. The weather can be a bit chilly, so people wear warm coats and hats. It's a beautiful, wild place that's home to lots of nature.

Where the Icebergs Play!

This sound is famous for its glaciers, which are like giant rivers of ice! These ice giants slowly move and sometimes break off big chunks that float into the water as icebergs. The water itself is very deep in some spots, deeper than a tall building is high.

It's a busy place where the ocean meets the land, creating amazing views. Think of it as a giant puzzle of water, islands, and ice all put together by nature.

Home to Whales and Eagles!

Prince William Sound is like a giant animal hotel! Big, friendly whales like humpbacks love to swim and eat here. You might also see playful sea otters floating on their backs, or seals basking on rocks.

Look up, and you'll see bald eagles with their white heads soaring through the sky. It's a very important place for these animals to live, find food, and raise their babies. It's a wild and wonderful world!

People and Places by the Sea

Even though it's wild, people live near Prince William Sound too! The biggest town is called Valdez, and it's famous for having a very long pipeline that brings oil from far away. Other small towns and villages are scattered around the edges. The people who live here are used to the cold weather and love the ocean. They often work with boats, fishing, or helping visitors see the amazing nature.
