Park Geun-hye

Park Geun-hye was a very important person in South Korea. She was born a long, long time ago, in 1952. She became the president of South Korea, which is like being the captain of a big ship! She was the very first woman to ever be president there, and also the first in a whole part of the world called East Asia. That's a super big deal!

Park Geun-hye's dad was also a president! His name was Park Chung Hee. When she was young, she even helped him out as the 'first lady' when he was president. It was like being the president's special helper. But sadly, her dad was hurt and passed away when she was still quite young. This made her grow up fast and learn a lot about leading.

Before becoming president, Park Geun-hye was a leader in a big political group. She was also a member of the National Assembly, which is like a big meeting place where important decisions are made for the country. A magazine called Forbes, which knows about powerful people, said she was one of the most powerful women in the whole world! That's like being as powerful as a superhero!

Being president is a very hard job. Sometimes, leaders face big challenges. Park Geun-hye had a time when people in the government decided she could no longer be president. This was a very sad and difficult moment for her and for the country. Later, she was in prison for a while because of some problems. But she was also given a pardon, which is like a special forgiveness, and is now home.
