Owls are special birds that love to fly when it's dark. They have big, round eyes that help them see in the dim light, almost like built-in night-vision goggles! Their feathers are super soft, which makes their flight almost silent, perfect for sneaking up on yummy snacks.

There are many different kinds of owls, from tiny ones no bigger than your hand to big ones with wingspans as wide as a grown-up is tall!

Did you know owls have superpowers? Their hearing is so good, they can hear a tiny mouse rustling in the leaves from far away! They can also turn their heads almost all the way around, like a super-flexible neck, to look for food without moving their whole body. This helps them stay hidden from other animals while they hunt for their dinner.

Owls are carnivores, which means they only eat meat. Their favorite meals are small animals like mice, voles, and insects. Some bigger owls might even eat other birds or small mammals.

They catch their food with their sharp talons, which are like strong, curved claws. Then, they gobble it up! They don't chew their food, but swallow it whole, and later cough up the parts they can't digest, like bones and fur, in a little pellet.

Owls live all over the world, in almost every kind of place you can imagine! You can find them in forests, deserts, grasslands, and even in cities. Some owls like to live in trees, while others prefer to nest in holes in the ground or in old buildings. They are very good at finding cozy spots to rest during the day and be ready for their nighttime adventures.
