Oral tradition

Long, long ago, before books or computers, people shared everything they knew by talking! This is called oral tradition. It's like a giant game of telephone, but instead of silly messages, people passed down important stories, history, and even how to do things.

Think of grandparents telling their favorite childhood stories or a wise elder teaching younger ones how to find food. These stories were like living libraries, full of knowledge and fun!

Oral tradition is super old, as old as humans telling stories! For thousands of years, it was the ONLY way to share information. Imagine a time when there were no schools or libraries like we have today.

All the lessons, adventures, and memories of a community were kept alive in the minds and voices of people. They would gather around fires or during special ceremonies to share these precious tales, making sure they wouldn't be forgotten.
