Oceanus

In ancient Greek stories, Oceanus was a super-duper important character. He was a Titan, which means he was one of the very first, most powerful gods. Think of him like a king of all the water! He was married to his sister, Tethys, and together they had tons of kids. These kids were like the rulers of all the rivers and the ocean spirits. Oceanus was like the ultimate water boss!

The ancient Greeks imagined Oceanus as a giant, swirling river that went all the way around the entire Earth. It was like the biggest, longest moat you could ever imagine! All the other rivers and seas were thought to come from him. So, whenever they saw a river flowing, they thought it was a little piece of Oceanus making its way to the big, world-encircling river.

Oceanus and his wife Tethys had so many children, it’s hard to count! They were the parents of all the river gods, who were in charge of every river on Earth. They also had daughters called Oceanids, who were like sea nymphs or spirits of the ocean. So, Oceanus was like the grandpa to all the water in the world, from tiny streams to the vast sea!

Oceanus was super important because water is super important! Without water, nothing could live. The ancient Greeks knew this, so they made him a powerful god who controlled all the water. He represented the vastness and mystery of the oceans and rivers. He was a symbol of the endless flow of water that keeps our world alive and moving.
