The Great Northern Bank Caper!

Once upon a time, in a big city called Belfast, there was a bank called Northern Bank. On a cold day in December 2004, something amazing and a little bit scary happened! A group of people, who were not supposed to be there, snuck into the bank. They were looking for money, and they found a LOT of it! It was like a giant treasure hunt, but for real cash!

These sneaky people had a plan! They made some people who worked at the bank help them. It was like being forced to play a game you don't want to play. They took lots and lots of money, both new and old bills. Then, they loaded it all into a van, like filling up a toy truck, and drove away. It was so much money, they had to make two trips!

You won't believe how much money they took! It was £26.5 million! That's a number so big, it's hard to imagine. If you stacked up £1 coins, it would be taller than a skyscraper! This was one of the biggest bank robberies ever in the whole United Kingdom. Wow!

The police started looking for the money and the people who took it. They searched many places and found some of the missing cash. Even though many people were investigated, nobody was ever caught for the actual robbery. The bank even had to make new kinds of money because so much was gone!
