What Was This Big Fight About?

Once upon a time, in the country of Nigeria, there was a big disagreement. Some people felt like they were treated unfairly. This led to a very sad war that lasted for three whole years, from 1967 to 1970.

It was a time when families were separated and many people had to leave their homes. The war was fought between the Nigerian government and a region called Biafra, which tried to become its own country.

Why Did They Start Fighting?

Before the war, Nigeria was made up of many different groups of people. Sometimes, these groups didn't get along very well. There were arguments about who should be in charge and how the country should be run.

Sadly, these disagreements grew so big that some people in the Biafra region decided they wanted to leave Nigeria and start their own country. This made the Nigerian government very unhappy, and that's how the fighting began.

What Happened During the War?

The war was very difficult for everyone. Fighting happened in many places, and it was hard for people to get food and medicine. Millions of people, especially children, suffered a lot.

The Nigerian government wanted to keep the country together, while Biafra fought to be independent. It was a very serious conflict that affected many lives and changed Nigeria forever. The world watched and tried to help where they could.

How Did It End and What Did We Learn?

After three long years, Biafra surrendered, and the war ended. Nigeria stayed one country. The leaders of Nigeria promised to help rebuild the country and bring everyone back together.

This war taught everyone how important it is to talk things out and find peaceful solutions instead of fighting. It showed how much damage conflict can cause and why understanding and fairness are so important for everyone.
