Newtown, New South Wales

Imagine Sydney, a big city in Australia. Newtown is like a fun neighborhood right next to the very center of Sydney, about as far as a short car ride from your school. It's a special place because it's part of two different town governments, like having two principals for one big playground!

It sits on a long hill, like a gentle roller coaster, that goes all the way down to a big road called the Princes Highway.

The most exciting part of Newtown is King Street. It's like the main street in a video game, packed with things to do! It's famous for having tons of cafes, pubs, and restaurants. People call it 'Eat Street' because you can find food from all over the world. There are also art galleries and shops, making it a busy and colorful place to explore.

Newtown has some really old buildings that are super interesting. The shops along King Street are some of the best-preserved old buildings in all of Australia, from a time called the late Victorian and Federation period. These buildings are like time capsules, showing us what things looked like a long, long time ago. They make Newtown feel very special and unique.

There's a train station right in Newtown, making it easy to get there by train. A road called Enmore Road splits off from King Street and goes over the train tracks. King Street and Enmore Road together have over 600 shops! That's more shops than you can count on your fingers and toes many, many times over. It's a place buzzing with activity.
