The Narmer Palette: A Super Old Egyptian Treasure!

This is a really old, flat stone called a palette. It's about as tall as a grown-up's arm and was found in Egypt. It's super special because it has some of the very first pictures and writing, called hieroglyphics, ever discovered! Think of it like a very ancient comic book that tells a story about a king named Narmer. It's made of a cool green-grey rock and is shaped like a shield.

King Narmer was a very important ruler a super long time ago, around 5,000 years ago! The palette shows him wearing two different hats. One hat is white and pointy, for the land of Upper Egypt, and the other is red and flat, for Lower Egypt. When he wears both hats, it's like he's saying he rules over the whole country. It's the first time we see a king wearing both special hats!

This palette is like a history book made of stone! It shows us how people in ancient Egypt lived and what they thought was important. Two explorers, James Quibell and Frederick Green, found this amazing treasure buried in a temple in a place called Hierakonpolis. It was found with other cool ancient things.
