Mount Rinjani

Imagine a mountain so tall it tickles the clouds! That's Mount Rinjani on Lombok Island in Indonesia. It's a super-duper active volcano, which means it can rumble and puff out smoke. Mount Rinjani is not just big, it's also very old and has a powerful past. A super long time ago, in 1257, it had a HUGE eruption. This eruption was so big that it was one of the most powerful volcanic events in the whole world in the last 2,000 years! It's like a giant sneeze that shook the planet. Scientists study it to learn about Earth's power.

For the people who live near Mount Rinjani, called the Sasak people, this mountain is very special. They believe it's a sacred place and have important ceremonies there.
