Mehul Choksi

Imagine a person who used to own lots and lots of jewelry stores, like a super-duper big jewelry shop with 4,000 stores all over India! That was Mehul Choksi. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1959. But now, he's in a bit of trouble and is wanted by the police in India for some serious accusations. He's not in India anymore, but lives on a beautiful island called Antigua and Barbuda.

Mehul Choksi was the boss of a company called Gitanjali Group. This company was famous for selling sparkly jewelry. Think of all the shiny necklaces, rings, and bracelets! He was so successful that he had stores everywhere in India. It was like having a playground of jewelry! But then, something happened that made him leave India and become a fugitive.

After some big problems, like being accused of a very large amount of money missing from a bank, Mehul Choksi decided to leave India. He even became a citizen of Antigua and Barbuda to try and stay away from the legal troubles. It's like trying to hide from your parents after accidentally breaking a toy, but on a much, much bigger scale!

He was even wanted by Interpol, which is like a worldwide police helper.

Mehul Choksi has been in the news a lot because he disappeared from Antigua and Barbuda! Some people think he was kidnapped, but others believe he ran away to avoid going back to India.
