Meena Keshwar Kamal

Imagine a girl named Meena who loved learning and wanted all girls to have the same chance. She was born in Afghanistan in 1987. When she grew up, she saw that many girls weren't allowed to go to school.

This made her very sad, so she decided to do something about it! She believed that every girl deserved to learn and be strong. Meena was a true hero who cared deeply about her country and its future.

Meena was super smart and brave! Even though it was hard and sometimes dangerous, she started a secret school for girls in her home. She taught them reading, writing, and other important things.

She wanted to give them the power of knowledge. This school was like a hidden treasure, helping girls learn and dream big. Meena's school was a beacon of hope in a time when education for girls was not allowed.

Meena didn't just want to teach a few girls; she wanted ALL girls in Afghanistan to go to school and be free to choose their own futures. She believed that educated girls could help build a better country. She even started a magazine called 'MeraJawan' (meaning 'Our Youth') to share her ideas and encourage others. Her dream was for a world where girls could be anything they wanted to be!

Sadly, Meena was taken from us too soon in 1987. But her brave spirit lives on! The organization she started, RAWA, still works to help women and girls in Afghanistan get education and rights.

Meena showed everyone that one person, even a young woman, can make a huge difference. Her courage inspires people all over the world to stand up for what is right and fight for a better future for everyone.
