Makhachkala

Makhachkala is a super cool city in a country called Russia. It sits right next to the Caspian Sea, which is like a giant, salty lake! This city wasn't always called Makhachkala. A long, long time ago, it was a small port town. Then, it was named Petrovskoye, after a famous leader named Peter the Great. Later, it became Petrovsk-Port. Finally, after a big change in the country, it was renamed Makhachkala in 1921. It's like the city grew up and changed its name as the world changed around it!
