Makalu

Key Facts
Meet Makalu, the Sky-High Giant!
Imagine a mountain so tall, it tickles the clouds! That's Makalu! It's the fifth tallest mountain on our whole planet Earth. It looks like a giant, pointy pyramid with four sides, reaching way, way up into the sky. It's so big, it makes even the tallest buildings look like tiny toys. It sits in a special place called the Himalayas, near another super famous mountain you might know: Mount Everest!
Makalu's Rocky Family
Makalu isn't alone! It has two smaller, but still very tall, mountain friends nearby. One is called Kangchungtse, and it's like Makalu's little brother.
The other is Chomo Lonzo, which is a bit further away but still part of Makalu's mountain neighborhood. These mountains are all part of a huge mountain range that looks like a giant's spine stretching across the land. They are all super old and have been standing tall for a very, very long time.
Why Makalu is So Cool!
Makalu is special because it's one of the highest mountains in the world! People who love adventure dream of climbing it, but it's super, super hard and dangerous. It's so high that the air is very thin, like trying to breathe through a tiny straw. Only the bravest climbers try to reach the very top. It's also a beautiful sight, with its sharp, pyramid shape standing out against the blue sky.
A Mountain's Amazing Shape!
Have you ever seen a pyramid? Makalu is shaped just like one, but it's made of rock and ice! It has four perfectly straight sides that meet at a sharp point at the very top. This shape makes it stand out from other mountains that might be rounder or have more jagged tops. It’s like nature’s own amazing sculpture, carved by wind and ice over millions of years.
