Ludwig von Mises

Ludwig von Mises was a very clever man who lived a long time ago, from 1881 to 1973. He was like a detective for ideas, especially about how people buy and sell things. He thought a lot about how everyone making their own choices could lead to good things for everyone. He wrote many books and gave talks to share his amazing thoughts with the world.

Ludwig had to leave his home in Austria because of some very scary people called Nazis. He traveled all the way to America to be safe. When he left, the Nazis took his books and papers, but luckily, they were found later! This shows how important his ideas were, even when things were difficult.

Ludwig von Mises believed that when people are free to choose what they want to buy, it helps everyone get the things they need. He thought this was much better than someone else telling everyone what to do. His ideas are still super important today for people who want to understand how economies work.

Ludwig loved to study how people decide what to do. He called this 'praxeology'. It's like figuring out why you choose one toy over another, but for grown-ups and how they make money and buy things. He believed these individual choices were the most important part of how everything works.
