The Late Middle Ages: A Time of Big Changes!

The Late Middle Ages happened a long, long time ago, from the year 1300 to 1500. That's like going back in time before your grandparents' grandparents were even born! Around the year 1350, things got really tough. Imagine if suddenly half the people in your town disappeared! That's what happened because of super-sick plagues, like the Black Death. It was so bad that the population dropped a lot. Plus, there were big fights between countries, like a super long game of tag called the Hundred Years' War. It was a difficult time for many people.

Even though there were sad and scary times, the Late Middle Ages were also super exciting for art and learning! People started rediscovering old books from ancient Greece and Rome. It was like finding hidden treasure! Artists painted beautiful pictures, and thinkers came up with brilliant new ideas. This was the beginning of something called the Renaissance, a burst of creativity!

Guess what? The printing press was invented! This was like the first copy machine, making books much easier to share. Suddenly, more people could learn to read! Also, explorers started sailing across the oceans to find new lands. Christopher Columbus sailed to America in 1492, and Vasco da Gama found a sea route to India. These journeys changed the world forever!
