Lalibela

Lalibela is a town way, way up in the mountains of Ethiopia. It's so high, it's like being on top of a very tall building, about 2,500 meters (that's 8,200 feet!) above where people usually live. Because it's so high, the air is cool and fresh. It's a special place in a region called the Amhara Region. Think of it as a hidden treasure nestled in the hills!

The most amazing thing about Lalibela is its churches. Instead of building them with bricks, people carved them straight down into the solid rock! Imagine digging a giant hole and then shaping the walls and roof from the stone that was already there.
