Kuomintang

The Kuomintang, or KMT, is like a big, important club that has been around for a very long time! It's a political party, which means it's a group of people who work together to help run a country. Think of them like a team that helps make decisions for Taiwan.

They were once the main team in charge of all of China, a super big country! Now, they are a very important team in Taiwan, helping to lead and make choices. They have been around for over 100 years, which is older than your grandparents and even your great-grandparents!

This KMT team started a long, long time ago, even before cars were common! It began in 1894, way over in a place called Hawaii, which is islands far away in the ocean. A very smart leader named Sun Yat-sen started it.

Later, the team grew and changed, and they got their name, Kuomintang. They worked hard to bring different parts of China together, like putting puzzle pieces together to make a whole picture. It was a big job, and they faced many challenges along the way.

The KMT team had some really big adventures! They helped lead China for many years. But then, they had to move to a new place called Taiwan.

This was a huge change, like moving to a whole new school! For a long time, they were the only team in charge in Taiwan. They helped Taiwan grow and become a modern place, but they also had some rules that were very strict.

Over time, things changed, and other teams were allowed to join in making decisions too.

The KMT team has a special set of ideas they follow, like rules in a game. These ideas are called the 'Three Principles of the People'. They believe in making sure everyone has a say and that the country is strong and happy.

They also have a special way of thinking about China and Taiwan. They don't want Taiwan to become part of mainland China, but they also don't want Taiwan to be a completely separate country. They like to keep things the way they are, like a comfortable, familiar playground.
