Knights: Brave Warriors of the Past!

Knights were super important warriors who lived a long, long time ago, mostly in Europe. They were like the superheroes of their day! Knights wore heavy metal suits called armor to protect themselves in battles. This armor was so strong it could stop swords and arrows. They also carried big shields and sharp swords to fight. Knights were trained from a young age to be strong and brave.

Knights started appearing around 1,500 years ago. Back then, kings and lords needed strong fighters to protect their lands. Knights were often wealthy landowners who could afford horses and armor. They were skilled horse riders and fighters. Over time, being a knight became a special title, like being a hero. They were like the police and army all rolled into one for their lords.

A knight's armor was like a full-body suit of metal! It weighed as much as a big dog, sometimes over 50 pounds! They also had a helmet to protect their head, which often had a faceplate with small holes to see through. Their trusty sword was their main weapon, and they used a shield to block attacks. Knights rode strong horses that were also trained for battle. It was a lot to carry into a fight!

Knights were the protectors of castles and kingdoms. They fought in battles to defend their lords and their land. They also helped keep the peace in towns and villages. Sometimes, knights would even compete in friendly contests called tournaments, showing off their skills with lances and swords.
