Meet the Winding Waterway!

The Juruá River is a super-duper long river in South America, in a place called the Amazon. It's like a giant, twisty slide for water! It starts high up in some hills and then wiggles its way through flat lands.

It's so wiggly, it looks like a snake slithering across the ground. This river is a very important part of the Amazon rainforest, helping to keep everything alive and green. It's one of the biggest helpers to the even bigger Amazon River!

A Home for Many!

This amazing river flows through a special kind of forest called the Purus várzea. Imagine a forest that gets a little bit flooded sometimes, like a big, wet playground! This is a perfect home for lots of cool animals and plants.

The river is like a busy road for them, helping them travel and find food. It's a very special place that needs to be looked after, so we can keep these amazing creatures safe in their watery home.

Super Long and Super Important!

The Juruá River is incredibly long, about as long as driving from your house to the moon and back... well, almost! It's about 3,283 kilometers long. That's longer than 3,000 school buses lined up end-to-end!

It's one of the longest rivers that flows into the giant Amazon River. Because it's so long and wiggly, it helps carry lots of water and nutrients to the rainforest, making it a super important place for life.

Protecting Our River Friends!

People know how special the Juruá River is, so they have created special protected areas to keep it safe. One is called the Médio Juruá Extractive Reserve, which is like a big nature park along the river. Another is the Baixo Juruá Extractive Reserve.

These places help protect the animals and plants that live in and around the river. It's like giving the river a big hug to make sure it stays healthy for everyone!
