James FitzGibbon

Sometimes, James FitzGibbon needed help to keep everyone safe. Two amazing Canadian heroes, Laura Secord and Billy Green, sent him secret messages! Laura Secord walked a super long way, like walking from your house to the next town, to warn James about an enemy attack.

Billy Green also brought important news. These messages helped James and his soldiers be ready to protect Upper Canada. It’s like getting a secret tip to win a game!

After the big War of 1812, James FitzGibbon had many important jobs. He was part of a special group called the Family Compact, which helped make decisions. He even became a leader in a secret club called Freemasons! But sometimes, even important people face challenges. James felt he didn't get the rewards he deserved for his hard work, which made him a bit sad and worried about money.

During a time called the Rebellions of 1837, James FitzGibbon was put in charge of the soldiers. He believed he did so much to keep Upper Canada safe for the King that he even wrote a special letter to the government about it!
