Ivan III of Russia

Imagine a prince named Ivan who became the boss of a big land called Russia. He was born way back on January 22, 1440. Ivan wasn't just any prince; he was super smart and wanted to make his country bigger and better.

He ruled for a very long time, longer than most kids are in school! He was like a super builder, but instead of building with blocks, he built up his country by adding more land and making sure everyone followed the same rules.

Ivan the Great was really good at making his country grow. He added lots of new lands, sometimes by making deals and sometimes by winning friendly games (which were actually battles!). He was also super brave and helped Russia become free from a group called the Tatars.

He even started using a special title, 'Tsar,' which is like a king! He also made his capital city, Moscow, look amazing by fixing up its famous castle, the Kremlin.

Ivan got married to a princess named Sophia. This wasn't just any wedding; it helped him connect Russia to other important places. After marrying Sophia, Ivan decided that a double-headed eagle would be the symbol for Russia.

This eagle looked in two directions at once, showing that Russia was strong and looked out for itself. He also thought of Moscow as a 'Third Rome,' meaning it was as important as the ancient Roman Empire!

Ivan the Great was like the architect of modern Russia. He took a bunch of smaller lands and put them together to make one big, strong country. He created laws that helped everyone understand how things worked. Because he was such a great leader and made Russia so powerful, people still remember him as Ivan the Great. He laid the groundwork for Russia to become a major country in the world.
