Fun Fact
Iran and the United States have not had official diplomatic talks since 1980!

Where in the World Are They?

Iran is a big country in a part of the world called the Middle East. It has tall mountains and sandy deserts. The United States is a very big country across a huge ocean, with cities, forests, and plains. Even though they are far apart, their stories have been connected for a long time!

Once Upon a Time...

A long, long time ago, when Iran was called Persia, people there thought Americans were friendly helpers. They even let Americans help manage their money! Later, during a big world fight called World War II, Iran was visited by friends of the US. For a while, Iran and the US were like best buddies, especially when a leader named Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was in charge.

Uh Oh, Big Squabbles!

But then, things changed! After a big change in Iran called the 1979 Revolution, the two countries stopped being friends. They haven't had official talks since 1980. It's like they have a big disagreement that they can't seem to fix, and now they have to talk through other countries, like Pakistan and Switzerland, to send messages!

What's Happening Now?

Today, Iran and the United States don't agree on many things. The US has rules about not trading with Iran, and they both worry about what the other country is doing. Sometimes, they even disagree about how countries should act in the world. It's a complicated friendship that's still figuring itself out!
