Meet the Giant Island!
Honshu is the biggest island in Japan, like a giant dragon sleeping in the sea! It's super long, stretching from the north to the south of Japan. Most of the famous Japanese cities, like Tokyo, are on this amazing island. It's shaped a bit like a stretched-out banana, and it's where most of the fun happens in Japan!
What's it Like on Honshu?
Honshu has all sorts of cool places! You can find tall, snowy mountains perfect for skiing, and warm, sunny beaches for swimming. There are also lots of busy cities with tall buildings that reach for the sky, and quiet countryside with rice fields. The weather can change a lot, from hot summers to cold winters, so people wear different clothes depending on the season.
Who Lives Here?
Lots and lots of people call Honshu home! In fact, more people live here than on any other island in Japan. They speak Japanese and have amazing traditions. You might know about yummy Japanese food like sushi or ramen, or see cool cartoons called anime. Many of these things come from the people who live on Honshu!
What Do People Do?
People on Honshu work in all sorts of jobs. Many work in the big cities, making cars, electronics, or helping people in offices. Others work on farms, growing rice and vegetables, or in factories. They also trade with other countries, sending cool Japanese toys and gadgets all over the world. It's a very busy place!
