Key Facts
Meet the Wise Man of Ephesus!
A super long time ago, in a place called Ephesus, lived a very clever man named Heraclitus. He was like a philosopher, which means he loved to think deeply about big questions. He thought about how the world works and what it all means. Even though he lived over 2,500 years ago, his ideas are still talked about today!
Everything is Always Moving!
Heraclitus had a famous idea: everything is always changing! He said you can't even step into the same river twice because the water is always flowing and moving. Think about it like a playground slide – you're always going down, never staying still at the top! He believed this constant change was the most important thing about the world.
Fire: The Super-Stuff!
Heraclitus thought that fire was the most special thing in the world. He believed that everything was made of fire, or could turn into fire, and then back into other things. Fire is always changing, right? It flickers, grows, and shrinks. He thought this was like how everything else in the world is always changing too.
Why He's Still Cool Today!
Even though Heraclitus was a bit of a mystery and sometimes called 'the dark one' because his ideas were tricky, many smart people learned from him. His ideas about change and how different things can be connected helped shape how people think about the world for thousands of years. He made people wonder about the big, flowing river of life!
