Imagine a super-strong muscle, about the size of your fist, hiding in your chest! That's your heart. It's like a busy little pump that never stops working, not even when you're sleeping. It's so important that you have one! It's always there, beating away, keeping you going every single second.

People have known about hearts for a very, very long time. Ancient Egyptians thought it was the center of feelings and memory. Later, clever doctors and scientists started to figure out that the heart's real job was to pump blood all around your body. It took many years and lots of studying to understand just how amazing this organ truly is!

Your heart is a superhero because it keeps you alive! It pumps blood, which is like a delivery truck for your body. This blood carries oxygen, which you need to breathe and run, and yummy food for your cells. Without your heart working hard, your body wouldn't get the things it needs to play, learn, and grow!

Your heart has four rooms, like a little house! It squeezes and relaxes, squeezing blood out to your body and then relaxing to fill up with more blood. This squeezing and relaxing is called a heartbeat. When you exercise, your heart beats faster to send more blood. When you rest, it slows down. It's always working to keep you healthy!
