Harold Agnew

Harold Agnew was a very clever scientist who lived a long time ago. He was born in 1921 and was super interested in how things worked, especially with science! He was like a detective for science, figuring out big mysteries. He even got to fly on a special airplane during a very important moment in history. He also helped lead a big science lab where lots of smart people worked together.

One of the most amazing things Harold Agnew did was fly on a plane called the 'Enola Gay'. This plane dropped a special kind of bomb on a city called Hiroshima a long, long time ago. Harold was there to watch and learn, like a scientist taking notes during an experiment.

It was a very serious mission, and he was a key part of it, observing everything that happened. This was a big moment in the world's history.

Before Harold Agnew flew on the airplane, he helped build something called Chicago Pile-1. Imagine building the very first heart for a giant, powerful machine! This was the world's first nuclear reactor. It was a huge step in science, and Harold was one of the people who put it all together.
