Imagine being the leader of a whole country! That's what George H. W.

Bush did. He was the 41st President of the United States, which means he was in charge from 1989 to 1993. Before that, he was the Vice President for eight whole years!

He was born a long time ago, in 1924, and lived to be 94 years old. He had a big family with five kids, and one of his sons, George W. Bush, also became president!

A Life Full of Adventures!

George H. W. Bush had a super exciting life even before becoming president.

When he was young, he was a brave pilot in the Navy during World War II, flying planes! After the war, he went to college and then moved to Texas to start a business that explored for oil. He also worked for the government in many different jobs, like being an ambassador to China and leading the CIA.

It was like he was collecting different jobs before becoming the top job!

Making Big Decisions for the Country

As president, George H. W. Bush had to make really important choices.

He helped Germany become one country again, which was a huge deal! He also sent American soldiers to a faraway place called Kuwait to help it become free. He even signed a big agreement with Canada and Mexico to make trading easier.

Sometimes, he had to make tough choices about money and taxes, too. He also helped make laws to protect people with disabilities and keep the air clean.

A President's Legacy

After being president, George H. W. Bush didn't just stop helping. He worked with other people, even presidents who came after him, to do good things for others. He was known for being a kind person and a good leader. It's pretty amazing that he was a president, and his son was also a president! He showed that with hard work and dedication, you can do incredible things.
