Meet the Giant Mountains!

The Front Range is like a big, bumpy line of mountains that starts in Wyoming and goes all the way down to Colorado. They are the very first mountains you see when you travel west across the big, flat land called the Great Plains. These mountains are super tall, almost as tall as 100 giraffes stacked on top of each other!

They are home to famous peaks like Longs Peak and Pikes Peak, which you can see from the road.

A Super Old Place!

Long, long ago, even before dinosaurs, this place was very different! Millions of years ago, where these mountains stand now, there were ancient oceans, sandy deserts, and even other mountains that have since worn away. It's like the Earth was building and changing this spot for a very, very long time before it became the mountains we see today.

Fun Things to Do!

When the weather is warm, the Front Range is like a giant playground! People love to ride bikes, hike on trails, climb rocks, and camp under the stars. When winter comes, it turns into a snowy wonderland perfect for skiing and snowboarding. It's a place where you can have lots of adventures all year round!

Mountains That Help Us!

The Front Range mountains do a special job. They help block big storms that come from the west, making the towns and cities on the east side a little bit nicer. It's like they are a big, protective wall for the people living nearby. This area is also called the Front Range urban corridor because lots of people live there.
