Flying Fish Cove

Flying Fish Cove is a super cool place on an island called Christmas Island. It's like the main town where lots of people live. It's near the top of the island, on the side that faces the sea. There's a small harbor where boats can dock, and you can even go swimming and diving right from the beach!

This town started a long, long time ago, in 1888! It was the very first place the British people built a home on Christmas Island. It got its name from a ship called the Flying-Fish, which was exploring the area. Even though it's called Flying Fish Cove, sometimes maps just call it 'The Settlement' because it was the first one!

About one-third of all the people on Christmas Island call Flying Fish Cove their home. That's a lot of people! They live in the main part of the town, and also in three other little villages nearby called Drumsite, Silver City, and Poon Saan. It's a cozy place where many families live together.

Flying Fish Cove is famous because it's the capital, which means it's the most important town on Christmas Island. It's where the main harbor is, and people can enjoy fun activities like diving. It's also known for its name, which sounds like something out of a fairy tale!
