Field Hockey

Field hockey is a team sport where two teams try to hit a ball into the other team's goal using special sticks. The sticks are curved at the bottom, kind of like a banana! Players can only use the flat side of the stick to hit the ball. It's a super exciting game that needs lots of running, teamwork, and quick thinking. You can play it on grass or a special bouncy surface called turf.

People have been playing games with sticks and balls for thousands of years, even way back in ancient Egypt and Greece! But the field hockey we know today started to take shape in England a long, long time ago, around the 1800s. It became really popular and spread all over the world, especially to countries like India, Pakistan, Australia, and the Netherlands. It's even been in the Olympics!

Field hockey is awesome because it's a great way to get exercise and be part of a team. It teaches you how to work with others, communicate, and be a good sport. Plus, it's super fun to dribble the ball with your stick and try to score goals! It's a fast-paced game that keeps everyone on their toes, and it's exciting to watch too.

Two teams, usually with 11 players each, face off on a rectangular field. The goal is to score by getting the ball into the opponent's net. Players dribble the ball, pass it to teammates, and shoot. You can't touch the ball with your feet or body, only your stick. If the ball goes out of bounds, there are special ways to restart the game, like a 'hit' or a 'push'.
