When Europeans Sailed to the Americas!

Long, long ago, brave sailors from Europe decided to explore the big, blue ocean. They used ships with big sails, like giant kites! Some of these explorers, like Christopher Columbus, accidentally found lands that were already home to people. These lands are called the Americas. Other explorers came later, wanting to find new places to live and new treasures.

Countries like Spain, Portugal, England, and France sent ships to the Americas. They built towns and cities, like the very first one called Santo Domingo, which is still there today! These new settlements were like building a new playground in a faraway land. They brought their own languages and ways of doing things.

The explorers found all sorts of new things, like yummy foods such as potatoes and corn, and shiny metals like gold. They also met the Indigenous peoples who had lived there for thousands of years. It was like discovering a whole new world filled with wonders, but it also meant big changes for everyone living there.
