The Super Team That Stopped Wars!

After a big, sad war, some countries in Europe wanted to make sure fighting would NEVER happen again. So, they made a special club called the European Coal and Steel Community, or ECSC for short! It was like a super-secret handshake for countries.

They decided to share their most important stuff: coal and steel. This was a really smart idea to keep everyone friendly and working together, like a big team playing a game.

Think about sharing your favorite toys. When everyone shares, it's harder to get mad and start a fight, right? The ECSC did the same thing with coal and steel.

This club had special leaders who weren't from any one country. They were like referees in a game, making sure everyone followed the rules and did what was best for the whole club, not just their own country. They had a High Authority, a Common Assembly, a Special Council, and a Court of Justice.

These groups helped make sure the sharing plan worked perfectly and kept the peace. It was a brand new way to work together!

The ECSC was like the very first step on a long path to countries being friends. It worked so well that other countries wanted to join, and they started sharing other things too, like electricity and even space exploration! This amazing club eventually grew and changed into something even bigger called the European Union, which is still around today, helping countries work together and stay peaceful.
