A Super Green Giant!

Epping Forest is like a huge, wild park that's bigger than 3,000 football fields! It stretches from a town called Epping all the way to the edge of London. It's so big that it's the largest forest in all of London.

It's a special place because it has lots of different parts, like thick woods, open grassy fields, and even little streams and ponds where frogs might live. It’s a bit like a giant nature playground for everyone to explore.

Secrets from Long, Long Ago!

This forest is super old, like, older than your grandparents' grandparents! It's been around for hundreds and hundreds of years. Long ago, kings and queens used to hunt deer here. People also used to share the forest, with some people owning trees and others letting their cows and sheep munch on the grass. It was a busy place with lots of rules about who could do what.

Saving the Forest!

Guess what? This amazing forest was almost chopped down to build houses! But lots and lots of people loved the forest and didn't want it to disappear.

They shouted really loudly (not literally, but they wrote letters and told everyone!) that the forest needed to be saved. Because of them, a special group bought the forest to keep it safe forever. It was like the first big win for protecting nature in Europe!

Home Sweet Home for Nature!

Epping Forest is a super important home for all sorts of plants and animals. You can find tall trees, colorful flowers, and busy insects. Birds build nests in the branches, and little creatures scurry on the forest floor.

It’s a place where nature can really thrive and be wild. People love to visit for walks and to enjoy the fresh air, but it’s important to be gentle with the forest so it stays healthy for everyone.
