The Empress Who Loved to Build!

Imagine a queen who loved building beautiful palaces and grand churches more than anything! That was Empress Elizabeth of Russia. She was born a princess a super long time ago, in 1709.

When she grew up, she became Empress, which is like a queen. She was super popular because she was kind and built amazing places for people to see, like the Winter Palace, which is so big it could fit many school buses inside! She also loved art and helped start a special school for artists.

No Executions, Just Celebrations!

Here's something really cool about Empress Elizabeth: she never, ever ordered anyone to be executed during her whole time as Empress! Can you imagine? Instead of being angry and punishing people, she preferred to celebrate and build.

She wanted Russia to be a happy and beautiful place. She also made sure to keep Russia safe by working with other countries, like France and Austria, to solve problems without fighting too much. She was a very peaceful ruler in many ways.

A Royal Family Tree Adventure!

Elizabeth was the daughter of a very famous Russian ruler named Peter the Great. Her family tree was a bit like a tangled vine! After her father, other people ruled Russia, including her mother and cousins.

It was a bit confusing! But Elizabeth was smart and brave. In 1741, with the help of soldiers, she took the throne and became Empress.

She ruled for many years until she passed away in 1762. She was the last of her direct family line to be Empress.

Russia's Golden Age of Art!

Empress Elizabeth's reign was like a golden age for Russia, especially for art and learning. She believed that education was super important and helped start the University of Moscow, which is still one of the best schools in Russia today! Her palace was filled with amazing art and music, and her favorite architect, Bartolomeo Rastrelli, designed some of the most beautiful buildings you can imagine.

These buildings are still famous today and show how much she loved making Russia beautiful.
